Snails Respiration
Snails have a thin skin permeable to water. Snails breathe by their gills that are placed in their pallial cavity. Their gills seem to look like a double comb, including a stem and feathery protrusions that have the responsibility of the general process of the gas exchange. This is the absorption of water from the water and the diffusion of carbon dioxide into the water. These gills that have a comb-like appearance are called ctenidia.
